Most of the work will be done at night to minimize power interruptions to business and other customers during this time. Sebenza substation is good news that comes after the first transformer at the substation was used to alleviate power shortages experienced in June.
Kelvin Power Station incapacity will no longer cripple the North Eastern suburbs of Johannesburg once the commissioning process is done. City Power appreciates the patience and understanding from the affected customers during this time of capacity augmentation.
During this time, there will be minor power interruptions. The good news is that Delta and Prospect substations will be backed up and supported by the increased capacity from Sebenza once the commissioning is completed.
City Power urges residents to bear with the utility during this time as this exercise is meant to increase supply capacity to ensure that unplanned power interruptions do not occur in the future without proper replacement capacity.
The substation has three transformers and are expected to be fully connected to the grid by end of November 2018.
