WARD 72 MEDIA RELEASE

WARD 72 JOBURG - FAQ | SOLUTIONS | FORUM | TICKETS
Good day Residents Ward 72
Over the last few months I have been hard at work acquainting myself being a Councillor and understanding the various workings of the City of Joburg. Our previous Councillor Steven Kruger has been most helpful in assisting me with numerous issues and guiding me how to resolve accounts queries.
COUNCILLORS DUTIES
Part of a Councillors duties is to attend numerous meeting. Council meetings can often end at midnight. In these circumstances I am unable to respond to the plethora of WHATSAPP or TELEGRAM groups and also follow SOCIAL MEDIA groups. It is physically impossible for me to peruse so many groups and respond to so many comments. Many comments may not be relevant to me as a Councillor.
I should emphasise that role a Councillor is to have an oversight of issues with their ward and to attend to policy making process at council. Also Councillor relies of the City of Joburg’s call centre and administrative officials to assist residents diligently. It would be inappropriate for me to usurp the City of Joburg’s functions. Once a resident has exhausted the processes for reporting issues to the City of Joburg, my function would to escalate your issue to head of the relevant department. As a Councillor we rely on City of Joburg’s officials, so it is essential to log your issue. Your escalation is based on the City Joburg Service standards.

SUGGESTIONS / ISSUES
Should you have suggestions / issues that you wish to escalate, I request that you utilise the WARD 72 TICKET system. The ticket system allows me to consolidate issues to escalate to the relevant City of Joburg official. By utilising the ticket system this gives me a global view of the issues that need to be addressed at council level. Using this information is the way as your DA Councillor I can improve service delivery to residents in WARD 72.
Remember, it is essential to obtain reference no. before I escalate your issue. Your ref. no. "starts the clock" to track service delivery process. It is an essential step in the process to improve service delivery to residents of our City. By logging your issue, this holds the official accountable through SLAs, i.e. officials are required to attend to issues within a specific time frame that have been negotiated between the City of Joburg SOE’s.
CONTACT INFORMATION
I have also provided contact information for City of Joburg departments. This is found at the following link -
